Be a Healthier You

All about me…

Melanie Harrison is a fully qualified Nutritionist with a special interest in community and health promotion. After graduating from university in 2011 with a higher second class Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Public Health Nutrition, Melanie went on to practice as a Community Food Worker with the NHS, before moving to Australia for 15 months to research public health strategies there.

After returning to the UK in mid-2013 Melanie began to produce healthy eating videos on YouTube and publish health messages to the Be a Healthier You Facebook page linked to this blog. She is now currently developing her first website sharing nutrition messages with the world.

Melanie is currently looking for employment in public health either working with communities or individual clients; ideally a role where she will be able to share and expand on her current knowledge in the field. Melanie is in a position to relocate for the right opportunity, either within the UK, Europe or potentially worldwide.

Melanie has experience working with all age groups and her dissertation thesis focused on nutrition in older adults, an often neglected area of study. . In addition to providing services to the community, she has also worked directly with schools, with school catering providers, and with the School Food Trust to improve school meal provisions, increase the take up of free school meals, and to promote breakfast clubs to headteachers.

Good nutrition and an active lifestyle are crucial to a healthy future, and helping people to achieve this is Melanie’s main career focus.
